If you're thinking in terms of 6-year old printer quality, you're in for a revelation. Black and white prints I'm making on my 1160 look better than what I was doing in the darkroom- the high key prints especially, with Jon Cone's Piezo setup, look like platinum prints. And I'm equally pleased with the color on an 1160 as well. I don't have previous color prints to compare with, because I was never set up to print color photographs before, and if fact was never interested, largely because I didn't like color photo paper. The computer has changed all that. Now I love making color prints, because I can print on papers I really like. And these printers are so cheap! (The PRINTERS. The inks and software and paper jack it up quite a bit.) Valid opinions are widely held regarding the relative merits of 4 vs. 6 ink printers, but I can give you a hearty 1160 recommendation.
