Ernst is correct about packaging differences.  I visited the Microtek booth at
Seibold & got a demo on the ArtixScan 2500.  In the U.S. they are shipping it
with Microtek's own ScanWizard Pro software, not Silverfast.  (The guy giving
the demo couldn't tell me why the difference when I asked!)  Based on the
demo, ScanWizard Pro is much better than previous Microtek software, and based
on limited demo time, looked better than Agfa's software for their T2500. 
(Hardware wise, the Agfa and Microtek are the same.)
