<x-charset iso-8859-1> >Jim (a person with one name only?) ** Yes, but what should that matter -- this list is about Epson-Inkjets, not people. >I have one simple question for you: Who appointed you the list Nazi? ** Sorry, that's not what I want to be. But hey, I'm just repsonding willy nilly to posts, like every one else seems to do. And being gassy and off topic seems to be OK too, so there I went... >No, I have another: Who said you were appointed to write blatantly rude messages to others who are sharing viewpoints and knowledge? ** Sorry, I snapped, after getting yet another "Than You" message in my mailbox. And since there's no list discipline here, I'm jumping right in again... Note, Mr Manners, that the poster WASN"T SHARING A VIEWPOINT OR KNOWLEGE! He was sending his own personal message to hundres or thousands of people, wasting their time, attention, and patience. As one poster recently despaired, this list and the archives are of no use because 1) the subject lines are useless because of their low descriptive content and 2) there are so many OT posts. Get it? If he had yakked about something Epson-Inkjet, I would have gladly soaked it up, cuz I'm here to learn and to better use my 'jet. >Well, now, I have yet another question: What have you contributed to >list discussions? I searched back several months and find nothing >constructive that you've posted. ** Man, how (or why) should I contribute if I'm still learning? Or is this a private admiration society of perpetually posting E-I experts that I've stumbled into? Or, do you suggest that if I make a constructive posting, that I can then make an off topic or a rude one? I hope not! Every post should be a glistening jewel of information useful to a whole bunch of list readers, both new and old. Instead I've been reading thank yous, personal chit chat about beards, chocolate factories and wine choices and on and on and on... Quantity sure doesn't create quality, my friend. >Don't bother to answer on-list as I have put a filter on your messages >to point them to the Delete folder. ** Twit filters. Great things. I've already tried doing that myself to reduce the noise in this list. Now I've got a whole screen full of names in my twit list and my delete folder gets the same amount of mail as the real list. But, it's not really the best solution, cuz even the goofiest crap generators do post useful things too. PLEASE, can you, or anyone else, help me (us) here and suggest a means to reduce the huge flow of off-topic drivel that makes this list so hard to wade through? thank you jim (and an epson 1200) - Turn off HTML mail features.
