<x-charset iso-8859-1>I need to express my feelings on the orange shift problem, in the hope that Epson is monitoring this list, and for others like myself, who don't currently own an 870/1270. I've been following the threads here and elsewhere since the issue became apparent. Yesterday, I looked thru my ~100 prints, to see if any of mine had orange shifted. To my horror, I discovered one that had. Close inspection revealed that it is a print -from my HP 970-! None of my 1270 prints have shifted. The 970 print had been stacked with 1270 prints. Now I wonder if the evaporation of the (?) glycol in the ink is causing problems with previously-printed photos? At any rate, the amazing quality of the current Epson printers, along with a digital camera, has prodded me to get -back into- hobby photography. I can print more color-accurate, more thrilling photos than I can get with any reasonable, local 35mm photo processing. I can do it cheaper. And I can do it when I want. I am ABSOLUTELY THRILLED by this, and I think most on this list will agree that Epson is in large part the reason we can do so. If I have a 1 in 10 failure of my prints, it's acceptable to me. I KNOW that you pros don't agree with that, and my sarcastic side wants to suggest that you go out and buy a $50,000 or up LightJet, Durst Lambda, etc... (and I would do so if Epson's marketing didn't specifically target pros). Even given that marketing, I personally think it's absurd that so many posts are vilifying Epson for a problem that seems to me to be affecting a very small portion of it's user base. No one here can logically assume that Epson knew of the problem in advance, and no one here can assume that they are trying to avoid fixing the problem, or are scheming to screw us over. Waving threats of legal action in Epson's face so early in the game, and attempting to blackmail Epson's associates, with no time for Epson to discover what's happening, is IMNSHO, ridiculous. Thanks for the soapbox, I'll now go back to lurking. - * Epson Inkjet Replacement CARTS at bulk ink prices!
