I'm no big defender of Epson, but this is putting
it rather harshly, no?

I'd say there was some inadequate testing here, 
perhaps both Epson and Dr. Wilhelm were caught by
surprise.

Epson messed up, to be sure, but I suspect (or at
least I hope) they will eventually come clean.

Epson did not arrive at their present position in
the market via deception; they did so with stunning
output from their printers.
