Epson rolls out photo lab solutions for digital printing Staff Report, email@example.com February 3, 2000, 10:15 am ET Say hi to the Epson Stylus Photo 870, Epson Stylus Photo 875DC, and Epson Stylus Photo 1270, the first line of printers to "deliver real photo lab quality for consumers and advanced imaging professionals," according to Epson America Inc.. They all come with premium glossy photo paper or matte paper-heavyweight to achieve real photo lab quality prints with fade resistance that Epson claims rivals standard photo lab prints. All three models also feature the world's first continuous edge-to-edge 4- by 6-inch snapshot printing system, similar to the print delivery methods used by many of today's commercial photo labs. A roll paper holder feeds the paper through the printer, producing marginless snapshots and panoramics with reduced paper consumption. Bi-directional printing increases photo print speeds up to 40 percent, making it faster than the Epson Stylus Photo 750 and Epson Stylus Photo 1200 printers. The printers use Epson's Advanced Micro Piezo inkjet technology. And with the reduced four-picoliter, variable-sized "unvisible'" droplets, each model delivers up to 69 levels of tone, more than twice that of any other ink jet printer, according to Epson. The Epson Stylus Photo 870 has an estimated street price of US $299 and is both Windows and Mac compatible, featuring USB, parallel and optional network connectivity. Included with the printer is the Epson Digital PhotoLab Starter Kit containing a roll paper holder, sample roll of Epson Premium Glossy Photo Paper, Epson Software Film Factory and Adobe Photo Deluxe.
