First, I'm new to the list, having just picked up a refurbed PhotoEX, so
hello to everyone...
For several years I used Birmy with a Stylus Color II to print Quark
documents. I found the software to be a pain in the neck to use, but most of
the time it did the job.
When I got the PhotoEX, I wasn't interested in spending the money to upgrade
the Birmy RIP; I found a workaround that works ok for my purposes. I create
a PostScript file from Quark, open it in Ghostscript (freeware), and use
Ghostscript to create a .pdf; then I use the Acrobat viewer to open and
print the pdf. I never bothered to check to see how well colors are
maintained thru all of this, but that's not a big concern for my purposes.
