It is possible for a vendor to destroy his own market; and certainly possible for a group of vendors colluding to destroy an entire market. In which case there are always other vendors just waiting for a vacuum to enter. Maybe we'd get lucky and get something better than inkjet technology for photography, maybe the laserjet vendors would make a somewhat cheaper model if they saw an opening.
