Barry, >.Is there anyway to edit the profile other than getting the $99 tweak it .program they sell? Has anybody tried the tweakit program they sell and if >so would they recommend it. No deal, TweakIT is Mac only for the forseeable future. >Everything seemed to work fine except the resulting >prints did not look good - they seem to be too dark with too much magenta. dark and magenta is indeed a VERY starnge result. Never came across that one before. >I am using an old HP scanjet 5p to do the scanning - is this the problem and >if so what scanner should I use? Ah!! the HP scanjet - some folk finding that it produces dark and red prints!!. It appears that with this scanner the default setings are 125% for Contrast and Brightness. You should leave that as it is. Also the gamma options are (so I've been told) screen, gamma 1.8, gamma 2.2 and none. Apparently (and therefore worth a try) the best gamma setting is screen, for why I don't know. I have noticed that the printed targets seem to be dark with too much magenta. Is it possible that the program can not calculate a good profile because the printed target is too far out of range? The target should not print dark and magenta. The top half will be darkish, and may be a slight green bias. The bottom should be just off gold. Ian Lyons - Please turn off HTML mail features. Keep quoted material short.
