Jim,
I've seen this with the epson oem inks too, on
uncoated paper.  The black ink only is not as
black as the cmy mixed with black.  At 95 the
epson driver might be kicking in some cmy to go
with the black, or just mixing cmy dots near black
dots and the result is that almost black comes out
darker than black ink.  You can really see this
when you make a custom profile and preview it in
photoshop.
