Hey, I'm no expert in this, but I did some
experiments a few weeks ago that convince me
that you can't get that famous, smooth Epson
dithering pattern from any one ink color 
alone.

Try printing a grayscale wedge using black
ink only, then print it again using all three
colors.  The difference is like night and day.

But I'll bet you already knew that...  ;-)
