I like Osprey. It is a beautiful paper and takes the Generations inkset with the standard black very well up to a point. Black areas that are somewhere between 95 and 100% black take on a slight sheen so that those areas appear lighter than 95% areas. This occurs when printing through the Epson driver with No Color Correction selected. This can be stopped by using Photoshop's Levels command to set the Output Levels at the black end to 13 but eliminates any hope of getting a blacker black by using a CMYK RIP or running the paper through the printer twice. A second application of black shines all the more. If you don't mind spraying the print with a solvent base overcoat (the Osprey coating is soluble in water) the surface evens out and returns the 100% blacks to their black state. This option does not appeal to me at all. Does anyone have a suggestion as to an archival coated paper with a smooth surface similar to hot press watercolor paper that is fully compatible with Generations?
