I noticed that Gary Hunt was satisfied with his
epson inks and paper and I have to say I am also happy with them. I honestly
don't know why anyone would want to go to all the trouble with the archival inks
and paper and from what I've read on this group it is a major problem. I've seen
people even trying to return there unused ink because of muddy colors, people
consistantly complaining about profiles, papers and various types of archival
inks not being true to color. I've seen people post as many as 15 times a day
complaining about problems with there refills, papers, types of ink, PS 5.x, etc
It looks to me like it's more trouble than it's worth. I've litterally read
every post regarding inks and paper and believe me it's mind boggling. Then I
look at my own printouts on Epson paper with Epson inks and I can't imagine
anyone going to so much trouble and expense to try and improve it. Unless your
making $50000 min. a yr. it seems to be for nothing. The only thing That I can
see that you gain by using archival is the longivity of the printout as far as
quality I've seen several people make comments that there printouts were almost
as good as there printouts done on epson photo paper or that they had achieved
that level of printout quality. Shortly after I joined this group someone ask me
what I was doing here well I have learned a lot and saved myself a lot of
headaches and money, I was really impressed with a photo printout of a coffee
cup and platter and spoon[China & silver] that was printed out on the
Somerset Enhanced until I printed a photo of china and silver out on the
epson papers with epson inks with an epson 1200 so much for my interest in
the Somerset paper. I've used a Mylar paper and gotten results that is out of
this world to look at. Try printing a photo of a piece of china and silver out
on a sheet of Glossy Mylar film and check out the quality. What more does a
person need. Unless your planning on hanging it up in a museum somewhere. This
is just my own personel opinion and believe me if everyone had the same opinion
the world would be a sad place. Thanks for the space.
