<x-flowed> Sean: I may get reprimanded, but I think the 1160 would be a great machine for quads OR archival color. I have it and the 1200 and the differences are very subtle. Also, it will use the same 3rd party cartridges as the 1520, so no waiting for availability. Caveat - one would most certainly want some sort of profiling software to use with it. Happy New Year, bob snow Bob, Thanks for the feedback. I'm able to profile printers with Monaco Color and an Expression 800 so that should be no problem. Color prints on my 1200 are better than on my 900, but only slightly. My instinct is that four inks and a small droplet are all that's needed for quadtones. My 900 would be a great candidate for this but for pragmatic reasons I can't devote it to quadtones. The tonality I'm getting with the MIS quad inks on the 800 is wonderful but the highlights definitely show the dot pattern of a 12 pico head. That 1160 is looking very good right now. Has anyone out there made quadtones on it? Sean Reid Northeastern Imaging Northeastern Motorcycle Tours - Turn off HTML mail features. Keep quoted material short.
