Canvas feeding problem

I'm new to the list, so my query may be old stuff, but:

I recently purchased an Epson 1200and I am happy with it except for one
thing.  I have a @%#*& of a time getting it to accept 13X19 canvas. I have
tried both the thick paper setting the thin paper setting, and nine times
out of ten it won't feed.
It starts the process, but just seems to spin its wheels trying to get the
canvas in as far as the print head.  Very off-putting.  Any suggestions?
