What are you printing from ? If the prints are too dark - several
areas may be the ones in doubt :-

1. the original film may not have been exposed correctly. ( I assume
you are using the colour negative film and not scanning the prints)

2. Scanner default adjustments may not be best for your job

3. printer is printing too dark - this can be sorted by either
adjustment on the printer control panel - / alternatively an image
correction program can be used to adjsut for best output.

4. after making and getting adjustments done right do not change the
brand and type of paper - or re-adjustments will have to be done.
