It is against the law to void a warranty for using a third party ink. Xerox lost a huge lawsuit several years ago for trying to do this. That is like buying a new car and having them void the warranty because you use Havoline Oil instead of the oil they recommend. Epson, Encad and most of the printer manufacturers threaten to void your warranty but see if they actually do it. Encad tried this with one of my customers in NC a few years ago, even filed the lawsuit, but it was dropped before ever going to court. They thought the way they worded their warranty would hold up in court, but it didn't. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^ Date: Sat, 21 Aug 1999 17:56:28 +1000 From: "Matthew Green" <mgreen@tpgi.com.au> Subject: RE: Archival options for the 5000 Apparently lyson.com has information about archival inks and papers for the Epson printers. Be wary of the inks though - Epson will probably void your warranty if your machine breaks down whilst using them. Regards.
