Scanner software is very important; the Linos are indeed the same machine as the Umax models, but the Lino software is well worth the extra cost, especially when the differance is this small. The only other alternative that will allow high quality scanning is to get SiverFast for the Umax, which would generally cost less than the Lino premium, but not at the princes quoted. The other reason for going with Lino would be compatibility with the other Lino products. C.
