G'Day T.C. and other 3000ites who have had 2 cents worth on this thread. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------ You said:---""I've had the same thoughts. I've been anxiously awaiting the replacement of the 3000 and many have described the 9000 as its successor, but the 9000 is more than four times the cost and I guess there are issues with six color archival inks (?). I think a 17 x 22, four ink replacement for the 3000 with smaller picoliter dot sizes and a sub $2k price tag would sell like hot cakes. I just can't see the 9000 as a replacement for the 3000, especially since it costs more than the car I drive!""<<<< ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 - I wish the 9000 was going to cost ONLY 4times the 3000 here Down Under, and definitelywill be a lot more than the car my WIFE drives. 2 - Yes I agree, - a four ink replacement with "smaller" Picoliter drops for the 3000 would sell like hot cakes ""ESPECIALLY"" if was just a HEAD UPGRADE, because that is really all it needs, as well as a new driver/ electronics card. Why pay for all the rest of the machine????? --- Again?? 3 - Actually I would add the ability to choose drop size eg. the 1200 and thus the "dump" choice between Photo Quality and ART work. 4 - I posted a diatribe recently comparing the 6 colour vs 4 colour and so far I don't want to know 6 colour, ( at least with lite cyan and magenta). My EX is still for sale. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------ Howard Cubell said - ""If one were to accept your premise, the 9000 should use the 4 head technology of the 3000. The newer technology used in the 1200 would just be a waste in the 9000.""<<<<< ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------- Mmmm! Well ---- regarding the 2nd part--my thoughts re a choice - and why - still pertain, - and on your 1st part -- John Nollendorf a regular contributor on this list has been using the 3000 4 colour technology using Inks and paper that give 70+ years of fade free life, to produce his photographic prints for quite some time. - and if someone views a 3000 - 17' wide print from less than 24"!!!! --- they should visit an Optician. Posters are viewed at 3/4 mtrs. I would just love Epson to give me WIDER version of the 4 colour 3000 - that gives me the same quality that we get now, but not restricted to 17" wide, or 44" long to get out both my Art prints and the Photo Quality of 1440 dpi on Ilford Archival media. I think that even Jim Davis may give up his beloved HP 3500 for that.????? Are you lurking Epson Market Researchers??????????? John Heaton forever Down Under. - Please do not include an entire message in your response. Delete the excess. http://www.leben.com/lists for list instructions.
