you should know that you can't just flip back and forth between archival and
standard cartridges. you really need to flush out the previous ink before
installing the new. That takes quite a bit of printing in order to empty the
lines.

If you're decided on doing it however, try weighing the cartridges before
and after taking them out. Jot dowwn the relative status settings. Try and
correlate to weight. And make a note as to how far you can print with the
status settings when you reinstall.

you definiely do not want to introduce air into the lines!
