RE: Win98 & CMS

Resending this as I've just realized that the color management panel in the
EX driver isn't new - it has been there since the driver update in November
(senility is definitely encroaching). But the disassociation of all profiles
in the Win update did indeed happen and the question remains ... what has
changed re Windows color management?

Apologies for double post,
Cathy
 ..............
Thanks, Trevor for your post. I just loaded Win98 SE and checked the Epson
site to see if there was a new driver for the EX (there isn't). But, because
of your post I checked the printer driver and sure enough there is now an
option for color management (must have automatically updated with the Win
install). I also went to the ICC profiles and discovered that they are now
all installed (as opposed to the original Win 98 default, which was that
none of them were installed), but that all associations have been lost (so
must be redone).

I have set my Epson driver for manual and chosen the Epson EX ICC profile as
the default, but - should I also save and load profiles for Adobe RGB, Bruce
RGB etc. and, if I do, can I then use them for printing?

Anyone have a clue? The fun never stops, does it?

Cathy

MicroSoft always has something else in mind, like "where whould you like to
go without being consulted about it today". But enough objections were
raised
so that the new version of Win98 allows you to make manual selections of
profiles. So definately check this choice, or Windows will pick the canned
default for your printer without asking you, as it did in the last version.
