The 16 bit sharpening filter is under the DBF tab at
http://www.scanprep.com/. Haven't tried it but Blatner and Fraser
recommend it.

With respect to selective sharpening (from another post) a usefull
technique is to select only the edges in an image then sharpen them. There
are a slew of ways to do this but the easiest one I've found is to sharpen
the bejesus out of an image (like set almost everything at near max) then
select the channel with the most contrast and duplicate it. Set the
History palette option to allow non-linear history so you can undo
everything except the copied oversharpened channel then load it as a
selection and sharpen the original though the resulting mask. Prevents
faces and skys from getting speckles while still letting you crank up edge
sharpness with a full range of controls. Sometimes it is a good idea to
soften the edges of the mask channel with a gausian blur before using it.
