Kathryn, your proposed use of different ink sets is perfectly feasible.  This 
is why Mile High chose the Epson 3000 printhead for our Accuplot 3800 
printer.  It is a 38" printer and you can run as many as 7 different inks 
through it.  With the simple task of using cleaning cartridges between ink 
sets.  We have done this many many times here in our Accuplot 3800, it works 
beautifully.
