Orange peel texture of Epson photo paper

I just got my 1200, so will probably have lots of beginner questions.
Here's the first:  Is anyone else bothered by the pronounced "orange peel"
surface texture of the Epson photo paper?  Why is it like that?  Initially,
at least, I find myself much more attracted to the smoother quality of the
prints I had done on my HP 1120C on HP glossy photo paper.
