Epson 3000 as plotter?

Hi all,

My wife's company is a Landscape Architecture and Planning group that has a
small PC network integrated with a few Macs. They are currently using 3
printers. A HP DesignJet 650C E Size Plotter on Jet Direct, a HP LaserJet
5SiMX on Jet Direct, and a Epson 1520 on the LPT1 port of the NT Server.
The LaserJet is in a seperate building from the other two and is not used
much by the majority of the crew because of having to walk up to the other
building to look over the finished output. That means that the 1520 take
the brunt of the punishment for standard letter output.

What they would like to know is if anyone on this list is now or has ever
used the 3000 as a plotter. What they would like to do is to bring in
another printer that can be set up and used like the 650C but to print out
quick plots on a smaller scale to check for obvious errors. The 650C is
terriffic but it is very slow. Also reducing printing costs is a big factor
here. E sized roll paper is not cheap and sometime they don't even check
before printing and end up putting a whole draft plot on mylar.

Anyone with any suggestions or comments would be welcome here.

John
