For the Color Management/Photoshop Gurus -Mac
Hi folks,
I just got my Mac back after a month of ("I can't figure it out" - Tech) limbo.
I hope it will now behave. But I have some color problems. I have only had the unit for about 7 months so I'm pretty much a simpleton with all the computer details as well as the venacular. My strengths are in Photography & Color Darkroom work. The problem seems to have been a bad RAM chip.
So here's the problem. The image files I have look great on the screen same as before but they print quite off from the way they used to. I use ICC profiles created with Adobe Gamma. These are selected in the space menu on my Epson Driver. I use the generic RGB setting on the moniter settings in the control panel. In the past I had an EX replaced (they thought a new one would solve the pizza wheels ha ha!) it did change the color quite abit which I adjusted on the printer driver. But I would rather not have to make adjustments on the driver, in PS, or with new profiles if there is another way around it.
(If the image looks great on the screen I don't think making new profiles will help already existing files anyway).
My tech upgraded my OS from 8.5.1 to 8.6 & downloded the latest driver for the EX
(SP EX5.54E), & upgraded Colorsync from 2.5 to 2.6.
I assume these changes affected the color management. I would rather not go back to system 8.5.1. I could change either or both the Driver & Colorsync back to the last versions.
Anyone have any experience/suggestions?
Mac OS 8.6/7500/150mhz/120mbRam/3.2gigHD/ PhotoEX driver SP EX5.54E / Adobe Gamma 3.0 ColorSync 2.6
TIA,
~S~
