paper mess

I'm wondering if anyone out there has tried the Concorde rag paper in a
PhotoEx with the Lysonic ink set. My dilemma is that I've run the Concorde
in my 3000 and the gamut looks great, but my subject matter has such soft
gradations that the 3000 dithering patterns just ruin the print (I'm
printing 360 dpi files at 1440 printer dpi- done lots of testing with higher
res files and doesn't seem to make any difference). My EX is loaded with MIS
inks and they blot all over the place with the Concorde paper. I had one
good batch but since then the results are lousy.

I'm trying Red Tail paper today and the MIS inks are just as bad on that
paper, blotchy coverage and bleeding at the print edge. Conversley on the
3000 with the Lysonic inks, the Red Tail is quite nice- not as much
contrast as the Concorde but I didn't tweak any settings yet either.

I don't think the MIS inks or my EX printer are wacked out- because the
combo works fine on glossy coated paper, but wow does it stink up the joint
on the softer watercolor papers I need.

Appreciate any input.
