>I own a Polaroid Sprintscan 35 Plus with a max resolution of 2700 and get >very visible "grain" scanning Kodak Ektapress PJ400. Does anyone know >wether the scanner introduced this pseudo-grain (scanner noise), or wether >the scanner got the emulsion grain ? What would be the difference between >scanner noise and emulsion grain ? Would a Kodak PJ400 have enough >grain to be caught with a 2700 scanner, or is there another problem here ? this film is very grainy. it is not the scanner. if it was the scanner you would see the same grain in velvia or even fujicolor 100, but you won't. for a good high speed film try superia 800 or nhg-ii 800 if you can stand the idea of working with negatives. I overexpose superia 800 at +0.7ev and get spectacular results *for an 800-asa film*. This film has a very characteristic noise, is is visible in the shadows and underexposed areas with a distinct almost 'digital' pattern, but wil not show as much in midtones and hightones. my experience with kodak films was that they are awfull for anything faster than 200asa.
