Place a flat square of cloth above and below the shirt to prevent scorching. I read your great suggestion and rushed right out and purchased one. I instantly scorched a t-shirt around the area where I used the iron on top of it. I only had the griddle set to 375 degrees and the iron set to cotton. Have you ever scorched a t-shirt with this method? Is there another "tip" to prevent scorching? Thanks!
