The Lysonic 6-colr ink cartridges do exist (at last!). We don't have
them listed on our Web site yet, but Lyson is now shipping them to
their dealers. Our shipment should arrive by June 10th, and I think
you'll like our pricing.
Lyson is telling us that their "Fotonic" ink
<http://www.lyson.com/FOTONIC.html> which was also slated for
distribution in 'Spring 1999' will now actually be launched with much
fanfare in September 1999.
Although the Lysonic inks have an estimated life of up to 75 year
when used on an uncoated, 100% cotton paper, their color gamut is not
as vivid as the Epson OEM inks, and require some adjustments (i.e.
via ICC profiles) by experienced users in order to get usable
results. This inkset is not for the casual user. Some artists have
wished that someone would develop a slightly less archival ink that
had the color space and ease of use of the Epson OEM inks. Well,
Lyson claims to have done this:
"Fotonic is a new set of inks that provide enhanced resistance to
fading combined with the bright vivid colours ... Fotonic inks use
unique, specially developed dyes to [give] an estimated 25-30 years
useable life."
Sounds like it will be worth the wait.
