I seem to remember some issues with updating UK versions of OS8.5 with US OS8.6 updaters (it's being fixed now). Also there are quite a few issue with Adaptec cards (can't remember if they are printing-related), and of course the CPU upgrade card - is it OS8.6 savvy? Can you boot from another drive with OS8.5.1 on it and print? Does it print OK with all other applications? Have you tried saving other file formats with your test file? How is the printer connected to the Mac?
