YES!! I finally made a good RGB profile that works better than just sending the file to the printer unprofiled! Don't know what is wrong with the ones I made for Concorde Rag but I made a careful one for Epson Photo Quality Paper using MIS inks on a Stylus 3000 and it works like a jewel. Now, if I can figure out what I'm doing wrong in the CMYK profiles I can leave Photoshop's standard separation engine in the past and have my CMYK cake and profiles too! Anyhow, here is a quick thing I learned while I was making a million tests tonight: When you use a home-made RGB profile in Photoshop you print with Printer Color Management not checked and with "No Color Adjustment" selected in the printer dialog box. BUT!! When you use the "Epson Standard Printer" profile that comes with the driver you have to have the Printer Color Management box checked and the Photorealistic mode checked in the dialog box. If you print through this profile without those selections you get total garbage (at least I did). Apparently this canned profile was made to be used with the printer color management controls. I always wondered why it looked so strange when viewed in a profile viewer! By the way, even with it working right it doesn't do nearly the job my hand made profile does --I'm so proud! Back to Color Synergy and working on that CMYK profile and the Concorde Rag RGB profile. Think there might be a problem with the way light reflects off the Concorde surface during a scan -- never could get a good scan of my quadtone prints so maybe this is related.
