A few years ago flat bed scanners were over 500 bucks.

Today, far superior scanners are about 80 to 150 bucks.

Scanners are also "incredible aggregates of precision" stuff.

But there are no consumables to make up for their low price.

Printers as loss leaders? Only Epson knows for sure.
