>So you are saying K is very nonlinear when using the driver saturation >slider >>with lysonic ink to WC paper? Have you noticed the cmy saturations >increase >>fairly equally using the saturation slider with lysonic ink to WC paper? >> >>John > > John - No, I don't mean exactly that. My expertise so far mostly comes from reading others here that have more technical means at their disposal to measure this stuff. I can see what they are talking about when I am printing my images, and trying to overcome flaws. To increase the amount of saturation for each indiviual color (cmy), there are separate sliders for each one. I do not think the CMY increases at all by adjusting the saturation slider. The Saturation slider seems to change the point at which the black gun turns on and dumps black ink. CMY mixed in equal proportions makes a gray. As the percentages go up toward 80% of each one (240% ink coverage) or so, you are getting a dark gray, muddy black. Somewhere after this point the true black turns on, and if it is done poorly, you can see banding where this happens. This is using a RGB file and regular drivers and has nothing to do with the ongoing experiments with RIPs. The true black does not get dithered in gently with the CMY muddy black. There is a distinct band that looks bad. What I can say from my experimentation, is that you can change how much of the really dark areas are true black versus CMY black using this slider. And this really changes according to the content of the image. In my early experiments I put all the sliders CMY +SAT to +25 to see what would happen. Definitely too much ink. Now I am back down around +4 CMY and +8SAT. ***BUT*** I don't have my monitor calibrated so I do not want to pass this on as any kind of setting that I think will work for everyone. It just stands to reason though that these WC papers really drink up the ink, so you can put a little extra on them - but you have to watch for dot gain to the point of bleeding together. -Bill -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Please: Stay on topic.
