    Some of the unsharp masking bits are actually part and parcel of the good
drum scanners. Some of them come with extra imaging devices that are devoted
to unsharp masking, so some of it is in hardware as well as in software.
    You might take a look at Linocolor (Elite?) for one completely
software-implemented unsharp masking algorithm that allows a bit more control
than Photoshop's.
