RE: W2K RAMlimits

I felt the need to comment on my accepting the existance of such a disk
despite my not knowing anything about it to highlight that my comments (a)
were speculative about its capcity and operation and not based on knowledge
or information, (b) were intended to direct attention to some of the sorts
of thinks such a disk would need to do or be required to deal with if it
were to be of benefit with respect to its use with Photoshop and meet the
issues and concerns which have been brought up by others and forewarded by
me, and (c) were not intended to be argumentative.

>From my perspective, the small 536 MB one would not be sufficiently large
enough to be a reasonable alternative to hard drives in terms of
cost-benefits; those that are 1.5 GB and larger do show some promise. How
many makes and models over 1.5 GB are on the market? They do not appear, at
present, to be advertised in the places that I see on a regular basis.

Hi Laurie,
I fail to understand why there would be a need to comment on the existence
of a
solid state hard drive. If you doubt my statement, a few seconds on google
would give you lots of hits.

Your statement about that it should be a reasonable size as related to PS is
valid and is typically met by most solid state drives. For example, here is
a
Compaq 2.1 GB one:

http://www.compaq.com/products/quickspecs/10386_div/10386_div.HTML

And a smaller HP 536 MB one:
http://www.hp.com/products1/storage/products/disk_arrays/disksystems/sc10/in
folibrary/sc10_pb.pdf

These are random hits form Google, I am not suggesting that they are good
choices.

The one I saw a few month ago looked like a PCI card with lots of RAM slots
on
it, so presumably it could be populated according to available funds.

Sounds like a super way to go except for the cost.
