generic inks
Last year, I bought a terrific printer, the EPSON SGYLUS COLOR 980... a
dream to operate. Speedy, simple, inexpensive ($179!) and a wonderful way to
duplicate and play around with digital photos at home.
However, the dark side, of course, is the replacement cost of ink cartridges
with genuine Epson products. Just recently, I paid $36.99 to replace my
3-color cartridge, and the black one is selling for almost as much!!!
For a while I was buying generics on the on the web without problems and
even flirted with the idea of doing my own refills. However, the 980 is one
of the first, possibly the only STYLUS COLOR printers to use archival inks
It also has the ability to produce extra small (micro?) dots at custom
settings, which is the main reason I purchased it in the first place.
I could really use some advice... Is there a source of high quality archival
(pigmented?) inks that would replace the Epson cartridges and give similar
print performance. Thanks in advance to all who will be kind enough to
reply.
