Re: Quick question: Power on or off?

I just happened to get this from Epson in partial response to a clogging
question I have on my 1200. Note #'s 3 and on a different issue, #6.

Thank you for taking the time to contact Epson. It is my pleasure to
respond to your inquiry.

In order to minimize the possibility of having to perform cleaning
cycles:

1. Be sure to always power the printer OFF with the printer's POWER
button not with a master switch on a power-surge protector.
 2. It is recommended to power the printer OFF when idle for the next
six hours to ensure the print head is capped and primed properly for the
next print job.
 3. Turning the printer off improperly or not at all can dry out your
cartridge.
 4. The ink status monitor on the computer will reset to full if the
cartridge(s) clamp is raised up exposing the cartridge.
 5. Removing a cartridge to inspect it and putting it back again breaks
the vacuum seal interrupting ink flow and causes banding.
6. Forcing the printhead over by hand or replacing cartridges with the
printer turned OFF can damage the carriage mechanism.

To install a new cartridge before the red LED lights up, press the
Load/Eject button for five seconds and the printhead will move to it's
installation position.
(Don't try to install both cartridges together at the same time.)
