re[2]: transporting CIS systems
My CFS system uses a factory cart with the valve in them, the 1270 series have self sealing carts, the older 1200, 1520, 1160, etc don't seal, or if you have a third party cart, it likely doesn't seal either. Also the factory epson carts are sealed in airtight packages and then have tape over the vent holes, I'm sure both of which prevent any ink from siphoning out.
I have my 1270 with no carts in it for a month, didn't do anything special to try and keep the head from drying out. In hindsight I would likely purge with the windex and a syringe.
