Re: Head guide rails clean & lube - head

Another $.02 US--

I've used WD40 on printers and tractors and lots of things in between, with
no problems with plastic or rubber. That may be because I don't put it on
the things that don't need lubrication.

On any closely fitted mechanism cleaning is most important. Just adding a
lubricant will result in sticky gunk. Wipe off all dirt and old lubricant
thoroughly, then apply a small quantity of your lube with a toothpick or
small swab. Wipe most of it off again. Cycle the mechanism. Don't apply
any lube with a spray can. Spray a little in a small container (make an
aluminum foil cup) and dip your toothpick or swab in that.
