Didn't know that about '3in1' oil and I was not particularly recommending
it, just using it as an example. The top of my antique '3in1' can has lots
of oily dust and it is not at all sticky feeling.
I use Liquid Wrench Super Oil. Seems to do the job.
WD-40 works OK but didn't seem to last very long on my Epson 700.
Gun oil has been recommended as well as a lube from Radio Shack which
contains graphite.
