 we thought of that...but we wanted the option of printing in color too....

 Plus the only time the wife needs the printer is from Jan to April 15..after

that she only uses it for Quartly returns and minor things that come up.

and then the family uses it for Greeting cards and things like that...

 

 just would be nice if you wouldn't loose Color ink when your not using it....

Why not just use a Black and White laser printer for business purposes?

They're down to ~$250 for 600ppi models, more economical per sheet and light years faster than ink jets.

  This is my first message on the this news group so if this question as already

  Back in Oct/Nov I purchased a Epson C80 printer (replacing Epson 500).

My wife wanted a faster printer since she does Tax Returns at home. And from what

everything I read this was the best out there.

 

  It made it through Tax season and my wife was happy.

 

  But I have a problem or I guess confused about something.

 

  I set the printer to ONLY print in BLACK at 360dpi. because

95% of the printing from Jan to April 15 is text in black and white.

 

 But I started to Noticed that even though we were ONLY printing in

black..my levels of my 3 COLOR inks were going down. It seemed

like for ever Black Cartridge she would go through the Color

cartridge would go down by 25%.  with the OLD ESPON 500

I could fake out the system and pull out the old cartridge and

put it back in and get more use from it..but wasn't able to with this

one..

 

  Guess my questions is . .Why I am using (per ink level display) Color Ink

while I am ONLY printing in BLACK and WHITE..??  even when I prink

in Informtion off the internet I still only print it in Black and White...

 

 again sorry if this problem has been address..
