Wide Format Swellable Polymer (like ColorLife) Paper

[This message is cross-posted to several lists]

Ilford has recently produced a new line of swellable polymer papers for wide
format printers similar in construction to the Epson ColorLife line.
They're called Omnijet. I have purchased several rolls for use in my 7000 in
conjunction with the new Epson 'Photo Dye' lightfast inks.

These papers are manufactured in two types, each of which mirrors the
Galerie papers. One is a quick-dry which resembles the Galerie Smooth line
and the other, the swellable polymer, is more like the Classic Galerie. The
swellable polymer papers have a shorter drying time than the ColorLife or
the Ilford RC papers.

They are beautiful papers and come in a variety of finishes.

You can visit the Omnijet website at:

In researching these ink/paper combinations, I spent quite a bit of time
talking with the Ilford techs who assured me the similarities between the
Omnijet and ColorLife papers were strong. In fact, although they couldn't
outright say it, I got the distinct impression Ilford MIGHT be producing
either the ink or paper for Epson. Interesting to note that both papers are
manufactured in Switzerland.

There's a US distributor of Omnijet papers who happens to be running a 3 for
2 special right now. They are Vancom Media and they're located in Dublin,
CA not far from San Francisco. Their web address is:
http://www.vancommedia.com/ Although the folks at Vancom deal mostly with
commercial graphic houses, they were very warm and informative on the phone
every time I contacted them. They're also quite responsive when it comes to
e-mail inquiries. And, they were more than accommodating in facilitating my
orders, which were quickly expedited. (I have no affiliation with
them.....just a happy customer).
