Long-term storage for inkjet printers

Can anyone tell me the best procedure for setting up an inkjet printer for
long-term storage.  I have an Epson 1160 that I won't be using for a while
and want to store.  I have had some third-party ink cartridges in it for the
past month and one of the jets is already clogged.  Should I put cleaning
cartridges in?  Original Epson cartridges?  No cartridges?
