1160 and Gen4
I’ve been away on a 6 month trip. My 1160 had been left idle for all that
time with the exception of one nozzle check that a friend was able to do for
me while I was away. However, the printer was left plugged into the wall
with the power on at the wall.
I’ve just fired up the printer today for a nozzle check. Perfect.
Now ... one question. I’m using Gen4 inks in a NoMoreCarts CIS. Does
anyone know if these inks behave "normally" (ie no colour shifts etc) after
being left alone for that length of time?
The reason I ask is that I *am* suffering from one problem with the 1160:
the "yellow" tube has developed a huge air bubble. The ink was back at the
tip of the bottle. Printing a full page of yellow yields beautiful saffron.
It seems that the air in the cart has led to some kind of oxidisation.
The other colours seem to be fine.
15 pages on of pure yellow and the situation is getting better. Now just
some saffron bands in between yellowish bands.
Has anyone ever had this?
I'm planning to buy a few custom profiles. So I'm wondering if I should
just start afresh with a new cart for the CIS and also chuck the remainder
of the ink (about 1/2 inch left in the 4oz bottle).
