Re: Watercolor Paper Recommendation

Title: Re: Watercolor Paper Recommendation
Skip,

I have actually used Strathmore Cold Press Water Color Paper to test and experiment with. This would not be coated and therefore it is NOT waterproof. I use Krylon UV coating or Crystal Clear spray coating to protect my prints. This is an inexpensive way to experiment before making a  investment in papers and archival inks. I have had some great results. I use the plain paper profile. This is not recommended, it is highly recommended you use profiles. I have two URL'S that may help.

Here is a URL that has recommended papers. I use Somerset Velvet and Concord Rag
I don't think these have the texture you are looking for. The Concord Rag is AWESOME. Color is bright and I get a wide color gamut.

Here are some tips for using color profiles. I do not use profiles, maybe I am lucky, but I am having great luck without them. (I use a 1200) I rarely have to tweak anything.

Subject: Watercolor Paper Recommendation

With just two color cartridges through my 1280 I am very new to this printer though I've been fortunate enough to have been able to match my screen & print output using the Epson papers.  I would very much like to now try a watercolor paper and am looking far a brand recommendation and any hint on the correct profile for this paper to in put on the 1280 printer.

Thanks,
Skip Higgins
