Sorry, what 'blue sponges' have you replaced?  How old is your system? ...
useage? ... how many bottles of ink?  NMC?  Ink type?

My system ran out of inks gradually and I had to replace the cartridges.  I
would worry if the heads had no ink at all for any period of time.
