Photo EX Print Head Slamming

I've got a Photo EX that I converted to a CIS using the MIS 'sextone' 
inks.  It has worked great for years until today.

Problem:  While printing and 8x10 image (any dpi) the print head 
seems to realign itself halfway through the print and then starts 
slamming into the left hand side of the printer.  Basically the image 
looks like you cut it in half and shifted the bottom half to the 
right.

Anyone have any insight to this problem?
