Epson 1280 CIS and Software Questions
I just purchased a new 1280 as an upgrade from my EX. I have some
questions I am hoping you can answer:
1. The installation instructions said the USB connection was preferred to
a parallel connection. Is the transfer rate faster on the USB? I plugged
it into the parallel cable used by the EX for now.
2. Part of my upgrade reason to access longer life inks, either from Epson
or outside. I have a large supply of Epson Photo Paper and am trying to
find a place that compares expected life of the various Epson papers
compared to each other. Photo compared to PPG, heavyweight matte, etc.
3. I think I will need to buy a CIS system and am considering the
Niagara. There are three ink choices, plug-n-play, Generations, and
Enhanced Generations. I shoot glamour so my biggest concern is skin tones
(lots of skin :) and print life. I have never modified or created a
profile... I tweak the picture and print it so PNP compatibility ranks high
from that standpoint, unless someone wants to come over and show me how to
profile :)
4. Did Epson drop the B (Ledger) 11X17 Photo paper? I don't see it listed
in the Epson book of recommended papers that came with the printer however
an errata sheet did mention the new Colorlife paper not in the book, but
not the sizes.
Thanks!
