Vertical Banding on 5500
Anyone else ever seen this problem? I am printing w/Epson 5500, Canon
D30 files, ISO 800 out of PS 6.0.1 on a Mac w/USB connection straight
from the back of the box. Printing on Epson Premium Luster paper, Photo
1440, High Speed Off. The problem is worse with high speed on. I am
seeing vertical banding running parallel to the length of the paper in
the darker mid tones to shadow areas of the file. This is not micro
banding but rather a very soft edge banding about 1/4" apart and 1/4" in
width. This does not occur in all files. If the banding occurs in a
particular file being printed out of PS it also shows being printed out
of PageMaker but the banding will be located differently. This occurs
whether the file, which is landscape, is being printed in the portrait
or landscape mode. It also occurs if I rotate the file vertically and
then print portrait. This is happening in several files, with or without
sharpening applied. This
banding is not visible on screen in any channel.
Does this mean that there is something wrong with the D30 files or does
it have something to
do with the Epson driver?
The only suggestion the Epson had was to turn off the high speed
setting, which it did help but not completely. They also suggested
printing out of different apps to see if the problem still
existed.
Starting to get desperate.
Thanks,
Mark
